English Explorer “Detective” Day Camp in Unterhaching

The holiday camp for children from 10-12: English for future Sherlock Holmes with a detective’s nose for clues

Are you searching for an extraordinary adventure for kids in Munich? Do you want to have an exciting experience during the holiday? Then come with us on a foray to a “secret location”. Investigate the puzzling world of detectives at our holiday camp – for five days and with everything you need!

At the beginning of the week, you will first make your professional detective badge. Then you will be sent on investigative adventure missions! And you will have everything with you that a good detective needs – magnifying glass, telescope, and most importantly your infallible nose for clues. With these you will go out and search for the trail. And for the exciting conclusion of the holiday camp – the huge secret will be revealed!

The secret language we speak together at the holiday camp is English – but of course. Ever since Sherlock Holmes, English has been the language of professional detectives! So that we can become English-speaking pros like the master cluefinder and his sidekick Dr. Watson, we will be improving our fluency in English. And the best part is: treacherous spies and criminals don’t even have a chance of decoding our secret language! We are right on their tails, so they don’t notice us until we have grabbed them by the collars…

Our motto is “Giving You a Voice” – the native speaker instructors teach according to the Sphairos concept with a creative, playful and active approach. The children are led to the new language with fun and without pressure to perform. Speaking and using the language are our goals – it’s not like learning in school!

Learning with all 5 senses

Do you like to go out and get hot on the trail like a detective? Then this is the perfect camp for you. Each week of our camps has a motto.

As a detective, you will first get your badge. With this, you can prove that you are out on a secret mission. And of course you will have all of the equipment a true detective needs, like a magnifying glass and telescope. Then you will go out and search for clues, so that you can discover the secret at the end of the week.

Schedule

On the first day, the instructors will give the children an overview of the week. The rules for behavior and dealing with each other will be explained and projects for the week will be agreed upon.
Activities throughout the day will take place inside and outside – no matter the weather. We make sure to switch between “active” and “playful” learning. And of course the children are encouraged and challenged according to their level of knowledge.
The camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Between 8 and 9 a.m. and 4 and 5 p.m., we offer flextime, where the children are supervised but not taught. This must be paid separately.
We have lunch together from 12 to 1 p.m. The food will be delivered by a catering service and eaten on the excursions.

We keep the sizes of the groups small – only 8 to 12 participants maximum. The children will be assigned to groups according to age and prior knowledge of English.

We are operating our Detective Explorer Day Camp Summer 2012 in cooperation with the Develey company and the district of Unterhaching in space provided by Develey, Oberweg 8 in Unterhaching.

Summer 2012

27 to 31 August 2012, € 195 for 7-9 and 10-12 year olds in Unterhaching

The cost for flextime between 8 and 9 a.m. and between 4 and 5 p.m. is € 10 per day. Flextime must be paid separately. 

Children who have a Münchner Ferienpass (Munich Holiday Pass from the MVV) will receive a discount of 5% off the cost of the course.
